Our Story
Over 40 years at the heart of Strathpeffer
Our timeline
- 1980
Founded as Strathpeffer Community Association
Registered as a Scottish charity on 12 March 1980 (SC000688). A small group of dedicated community members came together with a shared vision: to create a lasting institution that would serve the people of Strathpeffer & District for generations.
- 1980s–2000s
Building a Community Hub
Over the following decades, the Association grew steadily, expanding its programmes and facilities. The Community Centre became an essential gathering place for local residents — hosting classes, events, and activities for all ages.
- 2021
Renamed Strathpeffer Community Development Trust Limited
In February 2021, the charity was renamed to reflect its expanded mission and renewed focus on community development. The new name better captures our ambition to drive positive, lasting change across Strathpeffer & District.
- Present
Operating Strathpeffer Community Centre and Station Trading
Today, the Trust operates Strathpeffer Community Centre on School Road and the Station Trading shop at the Old Station. With seven members of staff and up to fifty volunteers, we serve hundreds of residents across Strathpeffer & District every year.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Strathpeffer Community Development Trust remains committed to the continued development of the Community Centre and its facilities. We aim to improve and expand our programmes, attract new funding, and build even stronger partnerships with local organisations and statutory bodies.
Our ambition is to ensure that everyone in Strathpeffer & District — regardless of age, background, or circumstance — can access the support, opportunities, and community spirit that make this a truly special place to live.
We are proud of what has been achieved over more than four decades, and we are excited about what the future holds for our community.
We exist to benefit the community of Strathpeffer & District — now and for generations to come.
